The Williamson St Art Center is the creative heart of artist Sharon Kilfoy. For many years, Sharon has worked in a variety of ways to bring art into the lives of people.
Following a 40 year career as a community artist and arts administrator, Sharon has returned to her roots as a studio artist. She is finally inhabiting the studio at the rear of her lovely garden. She looks forward to continuing to share her artistic vision and output with others, and is extremely eager about her new work!
Sharon is known especially for her large-scale mural & mosaic projects with schools, community centers, neighborhood groups and international exchange programs. Known as Madison’s “Mother of Murals” she developed a particular ability for working with disenfranchised youth and marginalized communities.
After creating some 40+ murals through the Willy St Art Center, in 2014 she collaborated with Dane County, Wisconsin government in creating a countywide mural program, Dane Arts Mural Arts – www.daneartsmuralarts.org In addition, she administered a variety of other national and international arts projects.
